Roland (Rollie) Maxwell Glover
From 1887 to 1906 Rollie Glover starred locally in both hockey and lacrosse. He captained the Peterborough Intermediate team that won the OHA title in 1902. Along with Ernie Wasson, Fred Whitcroft (C) and Chris Graham, he was one of the eight players who won the OHA Intermediate Crown in 1906. Glover served as Peterborough’s Hockey Club President for fifteen years in addition to serving in various capacities on the OHA Executive from 1910 to 1937. He was OHA President from 1918 to 1920 and again in 1933 and 1934 and was appointed as an OHA Life Member in 1935 for “invaluable services to hockey together with long and faithful service in the OHA”. In 1937 Glover was appointed OHA Governor on the Board of the AAU (Amateur Athletics Union of Canada). Rollie Glover was born in 1876 and died in 1950. He is buried in Little Lake Cemetery, Peterborough, Ontario.
