Stuart W. (Stu) Shea

Born at Darford, ON, Stuart Wallace Shea moved here in 1949 and spent the next two decades amassing a super record of victories in skeet shooting. These include: 1961 – Ontario Open overall champ; 1962 – Northern Ontario overall titlest, and one of three tied for the world crown; 1963 – City Sports Award; 1964 – Open Canadian champion, 28 gauge shotgun; 1968 – Ontario champion and Father/Son champions in the 12 gauge classes.

There was a hiatus in winnings until 1975 when he was a member of the Ontario All-Star team and 410 gauge champion. 1976 was a good year:  Canada’s best in High Overall Open and 28 gauge, second in Open Four-Gun competition, and  member of the Ontario All-Stars. In 1977, he was top All-Round Shooter over 50, and 20 gauge Open champ in Inter-American competition where he earned first place. Again, he was an Ontario All-Star.

In 1978, he was Northern Ontario High Overall champ and in 1979 he was Canadian Open Winner in the two-man team, five-man team and sub-senior overall categories. He was champion 400 target marathon winner in 410 gauge in 1981. He died in 2000.
