William Henry Dayman

Born in Port Hope in 1859, William Henry Dayman was an outstanding, versatile local athlete through the 1880’s. In 1883 he became the captain and pitcher of the Peterborough Silver Star Baseball Team. In 1885 Dayman was the baseball representative on the newly formed PAAA (Peterborough Amateur Athletic Association) which included cricket, baseball, football, boating, lacrosse, bicycle, lawn tennis, snow shoeing and tobogganing clubs. As well as baseball, he starred on lacrosse and rowing teams. He died June 2, 1925 and is buried in Little Lake Cemetery.
