The name Pansy Forbes is a legend, and as such is indelibly etched into the archives of the Peterborough Sports Hall of Fame. She was known by anyone and everyone involved in competitive swimming, particularly synchronized swimming.

Pansy led Peterborough Ornamental Swim Club members to world fame as a coach in the 1940s, 50s and into the 60s. She is mainly responsible for this group of highly talented precision swimmers achieving the highest levels of distinction, both in Canada and internationally, particularly the United States and Britain.

She was a recognized world leader in her sport, pioneer in training methods and innovative procedures. Her numerous awards include: Peterborough Citizen of the Year, 1953; Dominion of Canada Centennial Medal, 1967; Province of Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship, 1973; Ontario Synchronized Swimming Association Achievement Award, 1975; election to the Aquatic Hall of Fame in Winnipeg, 1975. She died in 1983.
