Dr. Angus William McPherson
Dr. McPherson was a competitive athlete in football, hockey and lacrosse. After his playing career ended, he continued his involvement in local sports in executive capacities. Angus McPherson captained the 1901 Ontario Rugby Football Union championship team and was secretary-treasurer of the OHA Intermediate Championship team that same year. The year previous McPherson had served in the same capacity with the 1901 OHA Junior Championship team. He succeeded W.A. Buchanan as OHA Treasurer in 1903 and held that office until retiring after the 1907 season. He was born in 1872, St. Martin, Quebec. Dr. McPherson served 15 years with the 57th Regiment Peterborough Rangers and in 1915 enlisted in the Canadian Army Medical Corps serving with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during WW1. Major McPherson served in England and France. Dr. Angus W. McPherson passed away in Peterborough in 1939 at the age of 67.
