C. R. (Chal) Graham
A Lindsay native with exceptional golfing abilities, Chal Graham moved to the city in 1961. In early years, Chal played many sports but it was golf that manifested the main interest. He started caddying at a young age, earning $0.25 a round, and the club pro let caddies play free, a key factor in his later triumphs.
Graham won the Lindsay Club Championships four times, and after moving here, he claimed the Kawartha Club Championships on five occasions. He also won low gross in the Midland tournament 18 times, as well as numerous other events and awards at the Kawartha Club. He won two city titles and finished second in the Ontario Tournament of Champions play.
As a senior, Graham placed second to the great Nick Weslock one year and earned numerous placings, including a victory in the Sr. A category and a second in the Sr. B Ontario Championships in 1982, at age 60.
Chal Graham received the Peterborough Civic and Ontario Achievement Awards. He died in 2005.
