William Randolph (Randy) Millage
Randy Millage turned his passion for golf into a long-term commitment to help the development of junior golf programs in the city and across Canada. In the 1980s he started a junior program at Tamarac Golf & Country Club, joined the Optimist golf program and became junior convener at PGCC. There is no single individual in the city more responsible for the growth of junior golf, the number of players to get NCAA scholarships, or the number of marquee tournaments hosted in the city. The PGCC has hosted several junior tour events, the Golf Canada Future Links Ontario Junior Championship, five RCGA Women’s Professional Tour events and the Canadian Women’s Professional Championship. The PGCC program has sent 30 juniors to NCAA Division I or II programs. Randy has been instrumental in the development of junior golf programs and tournaments in Ontario and across Canada. He launched the Junior Tournament of Champions, the Ontario Junior Masters Series and brought American Junior Golf Association events to Ontario. Under Randy’s leadership, a series of elite junior training programs and competitions were organized for the purpose of helping aspiring golfers develop the necessary credentials to be recognized by top collegiate coaches in Canada and the USA. In recognition of his tireless efforts supporting junior golf, the Golf Association of Ontario named the trophy for the Junior Tournament of Champions after Randy. Junior golf in Ontario would not be at the high level it is today without Randy Millage.
In 1997, he became a certified rules official and serves as a referee at Golf Canada, GAO, PGA of Ontario and PGA Tour Canada events. As tournament director he secured numerous GAO events for PGCC including the 2013 Ontario Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship and 2015 Ontario Men’s Amateur. He has been Associate Governor of the Royal Canadian Golf Association and PGCC Past-President. In 2014 Randy Millage was added to the Golf Association of Ontario’s Wall of Recognition. Randy also played and coached lacrosse, hockey and softball.
