Peter J. (Jim) Conlin
The late Jim Conlin was a good athlete whose dedication to sport went far beyond the playing field. He played softball, hockey and football, and was a superb bowler. He spent 38 years as a player, coach and executive of the city’s Men’s Softball Association; in 1982 he was made a Life Member and was named the first Mr. Softball. He also served 17 years as an executive of the Ontario Amateur Softball Association.
As a bowler for more than 30 years, he was a member of the Master Bowlers’ Association, taught many junior bowlers, and bowled a perfect 450 game. Jim also played hockey at junior and senior levels, and football for several years with Peterborough Orfuns.
Born in Ottawa, Jim moved to the city in 1941 at age 13. On three separate occasions, he was recognized by the City with an Award of Merit — in softball, football and hockey. He died in 1985.
