From age 3, Marianne knew she loved to skate.  She was enrolled in the Peterborough Figure Skating Club at age 6. After competing for over 10 years and achieving gold, she shifted from amateur skater to professional coach for the PFSC and area clubs.  She moved from figure skates to hockey skates when she played with Gray Munro Gremons girl’s hockey team, coached by Gary Dalliday.  Petes player, Dallas Eakins enlisted her help to improve his skating which resulted in Coach Dick Todd hiring her as the team’s skating coach. For the next 10 years she instructed numerous OHL players. She developed her own business, “Pro Power Specialized Hockey Skating”, and was well on her way to a successful career. Legendary Coach Roger Neilson was the first to hire Marianne to instruct his hockey camps, she was the first female speaker to present at Roger’s Coaches Clinic’s 25th and 30th anniversary.  She was featured in Paul Coffey’s, “Skate like a Pro” video and in TSN’s “Goals, the Hockey Show”.  She was the exclusive skating coach for Wayne Gretzky’s “Future Stars Camps” and continues to instruct extensively across Canada, USA, and Europe.  Marianne has worked as skating consultant for 5 NHL organizations, developing their prospects and affiliate players.  She was a keynote speaker at the “Hockey Skating Symposium” in Detroit and the 2019 Women’s Leadership Conference in Pittsburgh, who recognized her role in a predominantly male sport.  From 1998 to present Marianne is the Hockey Skating Director and Player Development Coach at Robert Morris University Island Sports Center, Pittsburgh, Pa. where she runs year round programs including NCAA Division 1 teams. She is a certified USA Hockey CEP Presenter and remains one of the top hockey skating coaches in the world, making a difference for players and coaches at every level of the game.
