Kalen Ingram
Growing up in Peterborough, Kalen excelled in all sports. She was Peterborough’s 1996 Junior Female Athlete of the Year and 1998 Senior Female Athlete of the Year. She is a past PG&CC Junior Club Champion. Kalen played three years at shortstop for the Peterborough Arborough Games team. Ingram played rep soccer for 8 years, serving as captain at the 1995 Ontario Summer Games. A Lakefield College School alumna, Kalen played five years of varsity soccer, captaining the team to multiple ISAA championships and four years of field hockey, winning 3 ISAA titles, an OFSAA silver medal, and a CISAA national silver medal. She played four years on the Ontario provincial field hockey team. As a 17-year-old, she was selected to the provincial U21 team that won a silver medal at the Canada Summer Games. She was named to the tournament all-star team at the 1998 National Championships. Kalen’s first love, was ice hockey. She played 11 years locally in both the PGHA and the boys’ program, captaining her novice team to an OWHA provincial title in 1990 and competing at the 1998 Ontario Winter Games. Throughout her career, Kalen can be described as a quiet, confident athlete, who led most teams she played on as captain, MVP, and leading scorer. Not only was she a talented athlete, she also achieved academic excellence and accepted an offer to attend Harvard University, where she played Division 1 field hockey and ice hockey. In field hockey, she was an All-Ivy 2nd Team selection as a freshman. In ice hockey, she earned numerous individual and team accolades. As a freshman, Kalen was the team’s MIP and was selected to the ECAC All-Rookie Team. As a junior, she was named MVP of her team; was a 1st Team All-Ivy selection, and a Patty Kazmaier Award nominee. Kalen captained the team as a senior, a year in which Harvard captured an Ivy League and ECAC championship and came short of winning a national championship. Ingram was awarded her team’s leadership and citizenship award in that senior season and finished in the top 10 in career scoring for Harvard. Upon graduation, Kalen attended law school at Queen’s University, and was an assistant coach of the Queen’s women’s hockey team that won an OUA Championship and National bronze medal.
