Henry Rowe (Roy) Hocking Kenner

H.R.H. Kenner was born on March 28, 1867 in Cornwall, England.  His family emigrated to Canada in 1872.  A graduate (1893) of the University of Toronto he became the founding Principal of the Peterborough Collegiate & Vocational Institute where he served for 35 years (1908-1943) retiring at the age of 76.  In 1952, the Peterborough Board of Education named its second high school Kenner CVI in his honour.  H.R.H. Kenner was also a very active member of the sporting community and was on the executive of almost every local sports organization.  He joined the executive of the Peterborough Junior Hockey Team in 1895 and was elected President of the club from 1887 to 1901 – winning the OHA title in 1901.  He was also on the executive of the 1901 CRU Champions and 1902 Ontario Intermediate Rugby Champions.  Henry Rowe Hocking Kenner died in 1944 and is buried in Little Lake Cemetery.
