Elaine Devlin
Growing up in Indian River, Elaine played her minor sports in Douro and Keene. She was an all-star goalie and a member of numerous OWHA gold medal teams. It was as a softball pitcher where Elaine made her mark. She won ORSA Midget and Junior provincial titles in 1981, 1982 and 1983 with Douro and Keene; an OCAA Silver with Fleming College and numerous Peterborough Women’s City League titles. In 1985 she attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas on a scholarship where she played in the NCAA softball circuit. She was Gulf Star Conference Female Athlete of the Year; Most Outstanding Player and won a Conference Championship. During her outstanding career, she has represented Canada at three international championships; competed in 16 Canadian Championships as a player and coach winning 4 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals; was a gold medalist at the 1985 Canada Summer Games; won 3 Provincial Tier II gold; 7 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze at Senior Tier I and 3 gold and 1 bronze as a midget and junior coach. She played and coached in the Australian National Championships and won gold at the 2009 World Masters in Australia.
There is not much that Elaine has not accomplished in the sport of softball, from MVP honours, pitching perfect games and no-hitters at Provincial and Canadian Championships to coaching and teaching the game to younger players.
The Peterborough City Men’s Softball Association awarded her with the 2010 Douglas McManus Memorial Award for Outstanding Service to Softball.
