Cindy (Mein) Moloney
Skating with the Peterborough Figure Skating Club since the age of 5, Cindy (Mein) Moloney is one of the club’s most decorated skaters. From 1970-1980, she competed at all levels from juvenile to senior at the Eastern Ontario Sectionals, Eastern Canadian Divisionals and the Canadian Championships. Cindy was a gold medalist at the EO Sectionals in juvenile dance. She competed in juvenile dance at the 1970 Ontario Winter Games – at age 9, the youngest competitor. In the 1974 Winter Games, she skated singles. Cindy captured the Novice Ladies silver medal at the 1976 EO Sectionals and Divisionals and was 10th at the Canadian Championships. In 1979, she was the EOS Junior Ladies Champion and placed 3rd in the Senior Ladies event; making her the first PFSC senior competitor after the Canadian Figure Skating Association implemented qualifying competitive tests. Cindy was two-time consecutive PFSC Club Champion and the first PFSC skater to receive four gold medal tests from the CFSA in figures, free style, dance and senior singles competitive. She was selected to perform at the CFSA Bursary Celebrity Dinner Gala; to attend CFSA National Training Seminars and the recipient of the Peterborough Junior Athlete of the Year. Cindy attributes her successful career to long-time coach, Ann Aubin Yeo and her parents, Lois and Don Mein. Cindy’s coaching career has had skaters competing at all levels of competition in Ontario and Alberta from 1980 to present. She continues to skate on the 2011 Adult National Champion Peterborough Platinum Blades Synchronized Skating Team, competing in Ontario, P.E.I and France.
