Cec Perdue

Cec Perdue

Cec Perdue is remembered for 40 years’ service as a sportswriter and editor on the Peterborough Examiner, and for his continued support of local sporting activities. He was born and raised in East City, and was an average athlete. At age 20, Cec went to Detroit and worked five years there, taking a night course in newswriting. He returned to join the Examiner and except for a period of less than five years when he served in the Canadian Army, spent the rest of his working life with that newspaper.

First as a writer and columnist, then as sports editor, Cec Perdue observed and wrote about local sports in an encouraging style. He covered the gamut of athletic activities in Peterborough and surrounding district, wrote a daily column and did all of the other necessary deskwork to keep his readers up to date. In 1967, he wrote an outline of Peterborough sports history for the Centennial book. He died in 1991.
