Bill Armour
City native, Bill Armour was a skilled hockey and lacrosse player who excelled at local, provincial and professional levels.
Bill was on three Minto Cup Championship Teams and was a member of the Peterborough Pepsi Pete’s that won the Mann Cup in 1966. In OLA lacrosse, Bill won three League MVP honours, 1964 and 1965 in Junior A and 1969 in Senior A. Brooklin picked up Bill for the 1964 Mann Cup finals while he was still a Junior age player. In 1965 Bill captured the OLA Junior A league scoring title with 139 points in 18 games with the Hasting Legionnaires. He was called up by the Oshawa Green Gaels in 1963 and 1965 in their run to the Minto Cup. He played Professional Lacrosse including two years with the Toronto Tomahawks. He was on Canada’s field lacrosse team in the World Championship tournament in 1967.
Bill played Junior B and Junior A hockey in Peterborough, professionally with the Greensboro Generals and New Jersey, and two years with the Senior A Belleville Mohawks. As a coach, he guided the Ennismore Juveniles to OMHA Championships in 1977 and 1978.
Bill was inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 as a member of the Oshawa Green Gaels.
