G. B. (Bev) Goulding

Bev Goulding is a prototype Builder of sport, excelling in all aspects and at all levels. In one manner or another, he was involved with high school football, hockey and basketball, with baseball, golf and general recreational activities.

A native of Toronto, Bev moved here in 1944 and was involved with coaching at PCVS until 1971, at all levels up to national, when he became OFSAA Executive Director until retiring in 1977. His PCVS football teams were in COSSA finals 10 straight years, winning titles in 1946-47-48-51-52-55. Basketball teams coached by Goulding won Jr. COSSA titles in 1947 and 1948, and a senior title in 1949. He also coached the Ontario Midget Basketball Champs in 1946 and 1948, and the Ontario and Canadian Juvenile Champs of 1949.

Goulding was also very active in many other sports organizations at both city and provincial levels. Honours accorded him were awards from the Recreation Committee, the Canadian Federation of Provincial School Athletic Associations, and from his many senior football teams.
