Gary Dalliday Honoured at Memorial Centre

This morning, surrounded by colleagues, friends and members of the media, Gary Dalliday was honoured by the Peterborough Petes organization for his long-time contributions to the club, and to the community as a whole.  Ken Jackman, member of the Petes Board of Directors unveiled the newly named “Gary Dalliday Media/Scout Room” to the assembled group.  Stating that it was an “obviously unanimous decision” to honour Gary this way, Jackman and Burton Lee, executive director – business operations of the Peterborough Petes, thanked Dalliday for his contributions to sport in our community, more specifically for the 15 years he spent with the Petes doing play-by-play commentary along with his son, Pete Dalliday.  Gary played briefly with the Petes in 1960-61, was the face of CHEX Television sports for 35 years, and now is the man who welcomes media and scouts to their Skybox at Memorial Centre.
Opening his remarks, Gary said it was like being at a ‘family reunion!’ and thanked all for coming to share with him this honour.  Dalliday thanked Don Barrie for partnering with him in the media room through the years and for suggesting that this pressroom naming be bestowed upon him.  He also thanked the Petes executive for this tribute.
To quote Gary, “a tip of the sports cap” and congratulations to 2001 PDSHOF inductee Gary Dalliday on this well deserved recognition.
