Isabel (Bullock) Henderson
Isabel Henderson was a gifted athlete who excelled in many sports – softball, basketball, golf, curling, skiing and bowling. Her talent and tenacity made her a quality player in all of them. During the 1940s when softball was popular among women, Isabel was one of the best pitchers in Ontario, first with Westclox Ladies, then playing at Toronto Sunnyside with the best in Canada.
As a basketball player, she was on a team with fellow Hall of Famer Jean Castle which won an LOBA title. Her collection of bowling awards attests to her prowess in that sport. And as a golfer, Isabel won the Commercial Press Trophy seven times in its first nine years. She set the Peterborough G & CC course record for city medal play with a 76, set in 1958. She has been Club and City Champion several times.
In curling, she has skipped her rink to victory in both local competition and to LOCA Championships. She died in 2010.
