Best Ball or Tradition Play…..You Decide!
After getting feedback from the golfers and striving to make this the best tournament around, the Jack’s Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame golf tournament committee has changed it up for 2017! Golfers can choose to play either a best ball (scramble format) or tradition play-your-own-ball round. Larry Gibson, committee member and grandson of Jack Gibson, for whom the tournament is named, says the tournament is meant for fun and to raise awareness about the sports hall of fame and raising money for our bursary program.” Accommodating all players and keeping the tournament fresh is the key to its success.
Pine Crest Golf & Country Club will again host our tournament on Wednesday May 24th. With the entry fee again set at $175.00 (which includes 18 holes of golf, cart, breakfast, lunch (catered by Franz’s Butcher Shop), social time (sponsored by Peterborough Glass) and dinner at the Evinrude Centre (sponsored by Peter Blodgett and Darling Insurance-catered by Franz’s), on-course snacks, and Jack’s Hidden Treasure) it would be wise to enter sooner rather than later as the field is limited to only 220 golfers! And as an early bird incentive, those who register and pay before May 19 will have their name entered into a draw to win their entry fee back.
Did we mention prizes galore?? Live and silent auctions, draw prizes, grab bags, special hole prizes (Hole in One, Tic Tac Dough, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Putting Contest), and more!
Proceeds from the tournament help to support the bursary program for high school student/athletes (4x$1500), and the Hall of Fame operating fund.
