Remembering George “Butch” Downer

The Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame extend condolences to the family of George (Butch) Downer. Butch, an accomplished athlete, trainer of the Lakers and the Petes, and coach of a various teams passed away on June 25, 2015. His key accomplishments were in lacrosse, including winning 3 Mann Cups with the Peterborough Lakers and 3 Minto Cups with the James Gang Junior Lacrosse Team.  He was also with the Petes when they went to the Memorial Cup in 1972.
