Newest Members of the Hall of Fame Introduced!

On Saturday June 10th, 2023, with family, friends and teammates in attendance, 6 new members were introduced to our community when they were formally inducted into the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame.

Each, in their own way, stated that they could not have had the success they did achieve throughout their illustrious careers without the love and support of parents, siblings, coaches and teammates, and they revealed that sport made them who they are as people today! 2023 Induction Ceremony

ED ARNOLD is best known as a journalist for the Peterborough Examiner. He is inducted in the Builder: Media category as an instrumental force behind the Examiner focussing on local youth and adult sports coverage. His entire biography can be read by clicking here.

RANDY BRYAN is inducted in the Athlete: Lacrosse category for his lifelong commitment to the sport, winning Local, provincial and national titles throughout his lengthy career. His entire biography can be read by clicking here.

MOLLIE CARTMELL is inducted in the Builder: Administration category for her extensive work with the Canadian and International Olympic Committees. She is a founding member of the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame, and was previously inducted as an Honorary Life Director. Her biography can be read in its entirety by clicking here.

STEVE FREDERICKS, inducted in the Athlete: Golf category, a player out of the Kawartha Golf and Country Club is continuing his winning ways, having just won the 2023 Ontario Senior Mens Match Play Championship at Tangle Creek Golf. Steve has received the Peterborough Civic Award, as well as the Senior Male Athlete of the Year award for his prowess in golf. His induction biography can be read in its entirety by clicking here.

KERRY HUFFMAN, inducted in the Athlete: Hockey category, played for 10 years in the NHL, being selected in the first round of the 1986 draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. He played in over 400 games, recording 145 points. He is now a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization where he oversees the pro-scouting staff and coordinates the team’s pro-scouting efforts in the NHL and the AHL. ERIN KENT has been skating since she was 2 years old. She is inducted into the Athlete: Synchronized Skating category. This is a complex precision sport where 8 to 16 skaters perform together, flowing as a unit at high speed while performing complex elements and intricate footwork. Erin continues her involvement with skating as an Adult 1 Coach with the Peterborough Figure Skating Club/Peterborough Synchronized Skating Club. CAROLYN CAMERON is inducted as an honourary member. This award is given to a member of the community who has, over an extended period of time, contributed significantly to the success of the Hall of Fame.
