Miller Models the “Petes Ugly Christmas Sweater”
Today we found Brian Miller sporting the “2016 Ugly Christmas Sweater” as he went about his early morning skate sharpening tasks.
Petes Head Trainer & Equipment Manager, Brian Miller, designed the this jersey along with Ken Catania of Catstitch, (the company that produces the Petes specialty jerseys). Miller’s design includes: a Petes logo in a traditional snow globe; maroon components to tie in with Petes team colours; Operation Christmas Child logos: on the shoulders, and on the bottom stripe of the jersey, “Boy” and “Girl” logos as seen on the shoeboxes.
Each year, under the organization of Brian Miller, the Petes host a chuck-a-puck to raise funds for Operation Christmas Child, a charitable organization that packs shoeboxes full of gifts for children in third world countries. Brian’s admiration for the group has grown since travelling to Senegal with his wife, Esther, to distribute shoeboxes. Brian and Esther were in disbelief when they ended up handing out a shoebox that they themselves had packed a number of years earlier.
Please drop into the Sports Hall of Fame tonight to see this sweater on display.
What will become of these jerseys you ask? Half of the jerseys are being auctioned off in a silent auction during tonight’s game. The other half are being auctioned off online at auction.chl.ca. All of the proceeds from the sale of the game worn jerseys will be donated to Operation Christmas Child.
