Vicki Appleton

Born in Peterborough, Vicki established herself as an elite golfer at a very young age. At 15 she was the 1988 Peterborough Golf & Country Club Champion. She represented the PG&CC at the Peterborough City and District Tournament five times. She was the recipient of the prestigious Marlene Stewart Streit Award in 1990. Vicki entered provincial play and in 1991 was a member of the Junior Ontario Golf team; was the second ranked junior golfer in Ontario and 6th ranked in Canada in 1992; a member of the Ontario Amateur team 1997 and 1998 and the Ontario Match Play Champion in 1997. She was a three-time invitee to the Canadian Training Program 1996-1999. Vicki received a full golf scholarship to Illinois State University 1992-1996, winning three NCAA Division I tournaments and finishing top 10 in many others. The Illinois State University team was the Missouri Valley Conference Champions in 1993 and Vicki was named to the 1995 Missouri Valley Conference All-Academic team. She earned a B.Sc. with double major in finance and insurance and was on the ISU academic honour roll all 8 semesters that she attended. She turned pro in 1999 and qualified as a rookie for the LPGA Canadian Women’s Open. She competed in the Canadian Women’s Open in 1999, 2002 and 2004. In 2004 she was the BMO Financial Group Canadian Tour Champion. Vicki has had a very successful career in women’s competitive golf at the junior, amateur and professional levels. Golf has taken her from the Peterborough Golf & Country Club to NCAA Division I and membership in the Golf Association of Ontario, Golf Canada, and Canadian Women’s Professional Golf Tour. She still retains her CPGA membership.
