Sally Graham

Sally Graham

In one of the lesser-known competitive sports, but one requiring supreme precision, Sally Graham established a remarkable record. Born at Lakefield in 1953, Sally first grabbed provincial honours in 1971, as a junior, winning the Tommy Henshaw Memorial Trophy for grand aggregate in her class.

That was just the first of eight consecutive years when she won the Canadian Ladies Small Bore Sporting Rifle Championship. In 1972, still junior age, Sally earned Canadian Grand Aggregate Honours in the Expert Class against both men and women. And in 1974, she won Grand Aggregate Honours in the Master Class for both men and women. Sally was a member of the four-person Ontario team that won the Canadian Team Honours in 1975, 1976 and 1977. She was also a member of the Canadian National team for five years in the 1970s.

Sally took up the sport with her father’s encouragement and was a member of the Lakefield Rifle Club.
