Lawrence (Lorne) Rose
Lorne Rose born in Peterborough in 1896, was a local star in baseball and hockey during the 1920’s. He was the pitcher of record for the Peterborough team that won the 1920 Central Ontario Baseball League Championship. This team also included his brother Abraham Raymond “Abbie” Rose. During the winter months of 1922 to 1927, Lorne played in the Western and Prairie Hockey Leagues with the Saskatoon Crescents, Saskatoon Sheiks, Regina Capitals and the Moose Jaw Warriors. He played alongside some of the early hockey greats like Newsy Lalonde, Johnny Metz, Bill Cook and George Hainsworth.
