John Grant Jr. enjoyed one of the most remarkable careers in the history of lacrosse. Raised in a community deeply rooted in the sport, he grew into a dominant force at every level of play, excelling in both box and field lacrosse. Throughout his career, John captured nearly every major team honour in the game. His achievements include: five Mann Cup championships, a gold and three silver medals at the World Lacrosse Championships, three gold medals at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, and both a gold and silver at the Heritage Cup. At the professional level, he secured one National Lacrosse League (NLL) title and five Major League Lacrosse (MLL) championships. Individually, John Grant Jr. earned a long list of accolades. Among these are OLA Junior A MVP (1994), MSL Rookie of the Year (1995), USILA National Collegiate Player of the Year (1999), and National Collegiate Attackman of the Year (1999). He continued to shine at the professional level, earning honours such as NLL Rookie of the Year (2007), NLL MVP (2007, 2012), NLL Championship MVP (2007), and multiple MLL Offensive Player of the Year awards. He was named Mann Cup MVP in 2004 and 2007. Over a distinguished playing career spanning more than 25 years, John amassed over 3,000 points. He has been inducted into multiple Halls of Fame: NJCAA 2010, National Lacrosse League 2021, Professional Lacrosse 2022 and US Lacrosse 2024. Known for his dynamic play and deft stick handling and creativity, he is widely regarded as one of the most talented players the sport has ever seen. Following his playing career, John transitioned into coaching, contributing to the development of the game at both the professional and collegiate levels in the United States. In recognition of his extraordinary career John Grant Jr. joins his father, John Grant Sr. as a member of the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame.
