A. L. (Arnie) Dugan

A Peterborough native, Arnie Dugan began his senior lacrosse career in 1949 with Peterborough Trailermen and subsequently played on three Mann Cup Championship Clubs. They included Peterborough Timbermen in 1951, Nanaimo Timbermen in 1956, and Victoria Shamrocks in 1957. Dugan was twice named to the First All-Star team.

As a youngster, Arnie was an all-round athlete playing on King Edward School teams. He took up lacrosse in the early 1940s and also excelled in hockey. He played junior hockey for Lakefield, Peterborough, Stratford and Toronto Young Rangers. Later, he played with Washington (AHL), Akron, OH (IHL), Lake Placid (Eastern League), Milwaukee (IHL), Detroit (IHL) and Peterborough Srs.

Dugan also played baseball and football with junior city teams, and lacrosse with our Ontario Sr. B Champs of 1947-48. He was elected to the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1977. He died in 2015.
