The Sun Shone on the Bobby Allan Legacy Bowl Ceremony!

Congratulations to 1980 Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Allan on the naming of the Park Street Lacrosse Bowl in his honour.

The Bobby Allan Legacy Bowl unveiling ceremony took place on Thursday November 5, 2026 under beautifully sunny skies, with more than 175 people in attendance.

Introduced by Rob McAulay, lauded by Mayor Jeff Leal, and presented to the audience by Councillor Gary Baldwin, Bob Allan was given time to recall his youth, playing in the very park that now bears his name.

Saying that “Peterborough has been great to me, and I love this game and I love this city, and to be able to put both of them together is really special.” Recalling the winter months when the GE would flood the area for a skating rink, Bob said he would “be that guy at 13 years of age, first in line with my hand on the door, for a line that went up Park Street, up Chamberlain Street and I had first grabs, because everything was rush seating” to see a rivalry senior hockey game between the Petes and the Legion. Memories of Mann Cup championships played at this site were also shared with the crowd.

Bob’s wife Pat and daughters Shannon, Kim and Michelle and their families were all in attendance to be a part of this special day.

A reception to honour Bob was held at the Hall of Fame, celebrating this truly remarkable Peterborough Lacrosse Legend.

Congratulations Bob, a VERY well deserved honour for you and your family!
