Peterborough Ornamental Swimmer Iris Rielly Passes Away

Our condolences to the family of Hall of Fame inductee Iris Rielly who passed away December 24th, 2024 at the age of 98.

Iris and her mother Pansy Forbes were pioneers in the sport of Ornamental Swimming, competing at provincial, national and international levels. Iris, teamed with Jean Millard, became the first Canadian duet to win the US national synchronized swimming event. In 1955 Rielly was a member of the silver medalist Pan-Am team that competed in Mexico!

Inducted in 1990, Iris and her mother were the first mother/daughter pair elected to the Hall.

Sympathy is extended to her four children: Heather Rielly, Marie Rielly-Calladine (Peter), Jim Rielly (Barbara), Cheryl Rielly and Gordon Rielly (Barbara). She is survived by 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
