Robert (Bob) Parnall
Bob Parnall was an exceptional hockey player. While still in mid-teens he captained PCVS to the High Schools championship, played with the Jr. B Colts, and was often called up to play for the senior club. He played on two OHA Sr. B titlists, one in 1942, and other 1949.
Around that period, Bob served two terms with the RCAF, then settled in Cobourg where he soon became playing coach of the town team. He also coached minor hockey, curled, skied, bowled and played table tennis. In summer, he virtually lived on the golf course and was good enough to be a finalist for the club title in 1958, ’59 and ’60.
In hockey, he earned numerous scoring titles and was part of championship teams. His daily life exemplified sport values such as fair play, good competition, and recognition that each player is part of something bigger — the team. Bob earned the respect of his peers in both sport and personal activities. He died in 2007.
