Announcing Jack’s 36th Golf Tournament!
Doug Gibson, chair of the Hall of Fame “Jack’s Golf Tournament”, and his committee, was at the Hall of Fame today hosting local media outlining details of the 36th annual tournament. The tournament is the major fund-raiser for the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame, supporting operating costs and the bursary program.
Being played Thursday June 1st, 2023 at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club, 240 golfers will compete in either a scramble format or individual competition, with trophies being awarded for each format.
The tournament fee is $200 per player, and includes: breakfast snacks, a barbecue lunch, on-course snacks and beverages, and dinner, as well as some pretty cool swag! Players are invited to actively participate in silent and live auctions. Auctioneer Rob Rusland continues to make this VERY entertaining for all!
Also up for grabs during the day: Hole-in-One (Trent Valley Honda), Hole-in-One (Merrett Home Hardware and Building Centre), Longest Drive in the Fairway (Molson Breweries), Jack’s Hidden Treasure (Darling Insurance), Closest to the Pin on all par 3 holes (Assante Financial), Tic Tac Dough on all par 3 holes (RBC Dominion Securities), Longest Drive Closest to the Rope (Flannigan’s Butcher Shop), Kayak Chipping contest, and a putting contest,
An “Early Bird” draw will be held for all players whose entry fee has been paid by May 11, 2023. They have a chance to win back their entry fee of $200!
This year, in memory of, and as a tribute to Bob McGillen, co-founder of Jack’s Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame Golf tournament (who passed away in February of 2023), we will be honoring Bob throughout the day. As Bob was a lover of everything Montreal, we are putting together a weekend package including: hotel accommodation for 2, two Montreal Canadiens game tickets, and a signed Montreal Canadiens Bob Gainey sweater.
All proceeds from this tribute package will go directly to the Hall of Fame scholarship/bursary program in memory of Bob. “McGoo”, as he was affectionately known, was a driving force behind the establishment of this bursary program for local high school athletes.
