It’s Official! Class of 2022 has been Inducted!

With pomp and circumstance, the “Class of 2022”, Inductees to the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame, was welcomed into the Hall last night with family, teammates and friends in attendance.

Due to the ongoing COVID protocols for indoor events, a limited numbers of guests gathered for the ceremony which was held at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Friday June 10, 2022.

Our newest members were led into the venue by inductees Lieutenant Colonel Lee-Anne Quinn and Rich Cavanagh, Paul Wilson proposed a toast to the Queen, and the proceedings were underway. Master of Ceremonies Paul Rochetta introduced each inductee, reading their biographies (which can be read by clicking the links beside each inductees name below). Rochetta then turned the microphone over to each inductee allowing them some time to publicly reflect on their athletic careers. Indicating that none of their success was achieved alone, most heaped praise on family, teammates and friends for their support and encouragement along the journey.

Patricia Bronson, Chair of the Hall of Fame presented each inductee with a framed Norman Knott “Thunderbird” print, Hall of Fame name badge, and Thunderbird lapel pin. With about 120 people in attendance, the evening was a trip down memory lane for many! A small buffet was served, with food provided by Scott Kennedy and his staff from the Memorial Centre.

Vicki Appleton, Golf (Link to Biography), Donald Dunford, Hockey (Link to Biography), Rob Fitzgerald, Multi-Sport (Link to Biography), Wendy Lamers Fitzpatrick, Swimming (Link to Biography), Mike Gadd, Windsurfing, who was represented by Mighty Fallen, (Link to Biography) and Kalen Ingram, Multi-Sport (Link to Biography) bring the total number of inducted members to 331!
