Condolences to Inductee Paul Day

The Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame extends sincere condolences to the family of inductee Paul Day (2025) on the passing of his father Philip Geoffrey Day on October 10, 2025.

A proud veteran, Phillip served in both the British Navy and the Canadian Armed Forces, moving to Canada when he was 17.

He was a human resources professional for much of his career and a teacher once he entered semi-retirement. He also worked with the Commissionaires of the Great Lakes after retiring and authored a number of textbooks.

Mr. Day was awarded by the Governor General in 1959 for helping to rescue boaters who had capsized in Rice Lake.

He fell in love with lacrosse after moving to Canada and was a referee for 50 years, officiating his last games in 2024 and only stymied from plans to take part in a few games this year by his death.

Our thoughts are with you and your family, Paul.
