Condolences to family, friends and teammates of Bob Allen of Douro
It is with sadness we share the news of 2020 Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame inductee Robert C. (Bob) Allen’s death. Bob passed away February 19th, 2025.
Bob leaves his wife of 61 years Suzanne, children Nancy, Julie, Jonathon and was pre-deceased by son Neil in 2017. He also leaves many cherished grandchildren to mourn his loss.
Bob, a descendant of the original settlers of Douro, started and continued his sporting career in the community. As a multi-sport athlete, Bob Allen’s extensive career involved a number of sports including hockey, football, softball, and tug-of-war. Bob played minor hockey in Douro and Warsaw where he captained the Warsaw Redmen to two Juvenile “D” OMHA Championships (57/58) and won two Junior “D” OMHA titles (59/60). In giving back to his community, Bob was instrumental in establishing the Douro Community Centre and Douro Park. He was also a 15 year member of the township council.
