Special Recognition for Maurice “Lefty” Reid

The Canadian Association for Sport Heritage held its Conference at the Charles W. Stockey Centre//Bobby Orr Hall of Fame in Parry Sound June 18-20, 2024.    At the Conference Jason Beck of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and President of CASH presented Legacy Awards to three individuals who were part of the original founding members of the Canadian Association for Sport Heritage.  One of these individuals was our own Lefty Reid.  Lefty’s family was in attendance and accepted the award posthumously on behalf of Lefty.   Lefty was also involved in the formation of the International Sport Heritage Association.

Lefty Reid was inducted into the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 in the Builder and Bowling category. His induction biography can be viewed by clicking this link.

Pictured above is Jason Beck, CASH President presenting the awards to Tom West’s wife Darlene, Lefty’s son Gary Reid and Peter Webster – the only living member of the original group.
