Condolences to Family and Friends of Inductee William “Bill” Cridland

Sympathies are extended to the family, friends and teammates of 2004 PDSHOF Inductee Bernard William “Bill” Cridland, who passed away Thursday December 28th, 2023. He leaves his wife of 68 years Leila, along with daughter Julie (Joe), and son Norman (Rose).

Inducted in the ‘Athlete’/’Boxing’ category, Bill’s influence spread across that of competitor, coach, official and judge. He was chief official of Boxing Ontario, and represented Canada as a manager, referee and judge in world-wide competitions, including the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.

Bill took up boxing at the age of 19 while in the British Army and it remained a life-long passion.

He was employed as a member of the OMC team for 36 years, and volunteered with the Royal Canadian Legion, Maple Ridge Senior Centre and Show Place in Peterborough.
