Doug Evans “Sports Legends” Interview Now Available
Continuing with the “Sports Legends of Peterborough” series, Dan Malta recently sat down with 2011 Hall of Fame inductee Doug Evans.
Inducted into the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame, Doug was inducted in the athlete category for his contributions to hockey and lacrosse.
Doug was born into a prominent Peterborough sporting family. He came up through the Peterborough Community Church Hockey League and honed his lacrosse skills at the summer lacrosse schools. He was a member of the Peterborough James Gang who won the Canadian Junior Lacrosse Championship Minto Cup in 1981, 1982 and 1983. Doug was named the 1983 Minto Cup Most Valuable Player. A prolific scorer, he won the 1984 O.L.A. Junior A Series Top Scoring title, as well as the league MVP.
