Remembering Local Softball Great Isobel Nichols

Condolences are extended to family, friends and teammates of softball great Isobel Nichols who passed away at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre May 26, 2021 after a suffering a brief illness (not COVID-related)

Remembered as ‘the gentle giant’, Nichols was always there for her teammates and friends. Her positive, supportive nature along with her athletic prowess made her a most welcome team member.

‘Izzy’, as she was well known, was a superb softball pitcher who also excelled when playing first base. During her career, Nichols was considered one of the most outstanding softball players in the Province of Ontario.

Inducted in to the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame in 2009 in the “All-Round Athlete” category, Isobel also played basketball and ice hockey.
